Great drinks, food and service for our last night on the island! View is gorgeous, even from lower dining room. Crab dip and duck wings are delicious!

While the ambiance was nice and the drinks were OK....it's just that OKAY. The Halibut special was the best thing they had going tonight with cheese grits instead of the coastal rice.... my husband had the rack of ribs, which tasted like just thay ribs and some BBQ sauce on top. We ordered a salad to share, only to get to the end of the salad and to find a hair in it. ..completely took my appetite. The manager came out and I showed her and pointed out that the folks in the kitchen. Don't even wear hair nets so I'm not suprised that there is hair in my food. She was nice about it and took the salad off our bill. Needless to say I'm not sure we will be back. ... it was just OKAY!!

Not sure what's up with the mediocre reviews. We had a great time a month ago on vacation. Started up top for happy hour and enjoyed the sunset. We had even missed happy hour by a bit - but the server was very welcoming and gave us the price anyways. Moved downstairs for dinner and everything came out at the same time, was perfectly cooked/seasoned. And we're a group that travels a lot and knows a good piece of fish. We would totally come back. Yeah, it's a little bit pricier than the other local restaraunts but eh. It was worth it. And the 'dress code' is a joke. What's to complain about? It's common sense. They're trying to keep drunk bruh bruh bro's/cocky Ed Hardy wearing guys out. That's a good thing.

Part of the rennasaince project currently under way in Shelter Cove is the Poseidon Costal restaurant. It's got a very trendy, upscale feel to it, and has a terrific covered, outdoor bar & seating area that will undoubtedly prove to be a great place for friends and family to enjoy. The wait for a table for my family of four was negligible, but then again, we were seated within the last 15 minutes of their early bird specials (about 5:30) so I would expect there to be a wait during the prime dinner rush. Luckily there is plenty of shops and even the marsh to walk around should you find yourself with a cranky toddler who needs a distraction while the food comes out. I had the broiled seafood combo (shrimp, grouper, scallops) which was decent, but honestly was pretty much a healthy dose of Old Bay and a touch of lemon. The portion size left a bit to be desired, but the shrimp and scallops were cooked well, so what I did get on my plate was tasty. My wife and the boy's filets were average, but then again, over the years of coming to HHI, I've given up on finding high quality beef and instead opt exclusively for the seafood. Seafood on an island? OH THE HORROR!! The beers were a bit on the pricy side of things, but not out of line with what the other places on the island are charging. Service was decent and friendly, and overall the experience was a good one.

Great! Went for dinner on our last night on the island... We went around 5:30 and did not need reservations (Friday night). Yes, its a bit expensive, but you get perfect sized portions (didn't have leftovers but wasn't wishing it was bigger when done). A few of our party got steaks, and they were all cooked exactly how we ordered them, and were all juicy too! They give you bread and butter, we also got the Hush puppies appetizer for 5 dollars, which were good! The seafood our party got was very good too- Ritz covered Cod, crab cakes, stuffed shrimp, and grilled shrimp. The entree all came with a starch and vegetable side. And thats just the food. The decor is amazing. I mean, you actually feel like you are under the ocean with their sea blue theme! ....their Rooftop bar is decorated even better than the restaraunt. Very well done. Would definitely go back.

Poseidon was an awesome atmosphere, great food that was extremely fresh. Wait staff were on point. Nice place for kids as well as a cool night spot. Reasonably priced for this quality of food. Establishment is very clean and had clean bathrooms, great pick!

We had a great server - Melissa in the bar/patio area. Excellent service from the beginning till the end as it was really busy. Food was great. Mahi Mahi sandwich was wonderful. The rice wasn't sure of with bits of pork. Turned out to be really good and filling. My husband had a cup of clam chowder which he said was delicious. We plan to go back for dinner before we leave the Island. Was glad to see a new restaurant in the area. We go to the same ones all the time while on vacation and now we can add this to our list. The patio is cool and covered, so it makes it a really nice experience. They have plenty of fans going. Menu is extensive and reasonable, despite many complaints on Yelp. I don't know where some of these people dine or if they don't get out much! My recommendation is not to read some of the reviews and if you think you may like the place, risk going and make your own judgements. We always find a diamond in the rough and this one is definitely worth trying. Ask for Melissa for great service and a nice smile.

Been here twice. Very poor service on NON BUSY days. Could not even get a glass of water after asking three times. Had to go to the bar and get it water ourselves. Manager came up to the table asked how are our dinner was. He was also no help Went upstairs to have a drink sat at a table for 15 minutes with no service at all. sorry but we walked out. Again the "upstairs" manger asked how our drinks were. LOL. SERG you know how to do this better than the experience you are providing. You deserve no stars!

The Rooftop bar here is THE PLACE TO BE! I'm a happy hour guru and this is the best place so far on HHI. I can assure you....you won't find a better deal on very tasty cocktails. The variety and choices are really good. Food specials as well. I suggest the beef and salmon sliders. Really good. Amazing view....great food....and wonderful drinks. You can do a lot under $20 here!!!!

I went here with my wife and parents for dinner last week. It was a very, very delicious meal, we all agreed. The atmosphere was "beach-swanky" with a warehouse-like feel inside. We did not visit the bar upstairs, but it was completely packed when we left, and had music playing. I had the seafood bisque and a scallop dish that were both absolutely fantastic. It had a bacon jam of some sort on it that was semi-sweet, but went really well with the scallops, and some Carolina grits which were cooked perfectly. My mom had Shrimp & Grits and really liked it, too. If I remember correctly, my dad had the salmon with crab, and was very happy (I remember his plate being completely cleaned off), and my wife had the King Salmon with wild rice and really enjoyed it, too. The server was attentive but not overbearing, and brought out a delicious basket of bread with some crackers, and did not flinch when my dad asked for a second basket, and brought it right out. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fine meal in a semi-loud / busy setting, that is located very conveniently. We didn't get dessert here, but did find ourselves just about 100 feet away at an ice cream shop. Win-win!

UGH! This place is so hyped up, but really under delivered. Ambiance: OK, but no local charm. They are trying to hard. Nice to be outside and on the water-ish though. Service: Good. Our water was sweet, overshared a bit, but got the job done. Food: The food... to start, it is way overpriced for what you get. Dining partners and I started with the soup of the day (a corn chowder I believe) which was lukewarm, a small underwhelming flatbread, calamari and local oysters. Calamari was the best of the starters. Oysters were good and fresh, but overpriced considering our waiter told us he eats them for free all the time when he's on his boat. For entrees, one dining partner got the Poseidon salad with shrimp. Ok salad, but again overpriced for what you get. Another got duck wings which we understand that duck is gamey, but these seemed overly greasy. Another got the Shrimp & Noodles which was the most disappointing of the night. Considering curry was involved, this was the most flavorless curry we as a group had ever experienced. The restaurant either needs to learn how to cook curry, or take it off the menu entirely. I got the appetizer crab cake, which was fine but not $14 good. I went with the Maine salad which was good, but so basic that it's hard to mess up. Overall: Skip this restaurant entirely when visiting Hilton Head! There are SO many better options on the island that will give you the same fresh seafood at a more reasonable price with a solid atmosphere.

I wanted this to be higher rated, we had a good server, and the appetizers and drinks were good, varied, and interesting. Then we sat and waited, way too long, for the entrées. They were ok but my group felt the ribs were too dry. It's only been open a few months and is having some uneven growing so we will return next year and recommend others try it as well. On HHI, families commonly number 6,8, or more so any restaurant that has difficulty servicing large groups won't do well. The Manager and I discussed my concerns and he was very accommodating.

What a bad experience. Service was bad followed only by mediocre food at best. Ordered crab legs and seafood bounty. Crab legs served luke warm. Not cracked when asked to have double cracked. No utensils delivered with the food needed to ask for cracker and crab fork. Seafood bounty was tasteless and the crab had no taste as the broth didn't either. Said had chiles and garlic, not evident in the soapy broth. Had to ask for bread and no refills of our water or soft drink. Based on this meal, my recommendation would be skip it. Must be better choices in Hilton Head.

Welp. This is absolutely as mediocre as food can get without being downright disgusting. We called to ask if they took reservations; "no we don't" was the response followed by a dial tone. Ok, no problem. We then arrive at 6:30pm and approach the hostess who briskly asks if we called ahead. Nope, we sure didn't (nor were we given the opportunity to). They were busy, but not slammed. The wait was 1hr 15min, so we pulled two tables together at the bar (which had several empty tables). We were immediately approached by a very rude man who walked up and said, "OK,what are you doing here (with these tables)?" Well, we're trying to have dinner, jerk. Honestly, we should have just packed it up right then and headed to another restaurant. We continued and ordered drinks, which came out 15-20mins later and were nothing more than glasses of simple syrup. We ordered peel and eat shrimp and calamari for the table. The shrimp tasted fishy and were wilted and mushy to chew (but still $31). The calamari were heavily fried and tasted like something from Long John Silver. We told the server about the shrimp and prefaced our comment with "We aren't sending these back and are not asking for a discount, but wanted you to know..." but she did not take it well and got pretty combative telling us how fresh the shrimp are. Well, that's fine, but they taste bad, hence the reason we're letting you know. For dinner, we ordered Prime Rib and Snow Crab. The prime rib was cooked well, but flavorless. The snow crab was cool and wilted. I've had better crab from the grocery store around the corner. And for less money, too. I received a small handful of crab legs for $28. The experience was 2hrs (almost to the minute and considering we sat ourselves within 5mins of arriving), $134.00 with tip for my family of three (two adults, one five year old, we had one cocktail each) and was some of the worst food I've ever eaten. To be fair, my brother had Blue Point and Bay oysters and loved them. He said they were perfect. This is a tourist trap; one of the many businesses that exist on HHI and survive solely by overcharging people just like us. Yelp for better restaurants on the island... they're there.

My husband and I went last night around 5:00 pm for happy hour. We had some time to kill before our actual dinner reservation at another restaurant and were in the area. It was Tuesday night which is the busiest night in Shelter Cove because of the Fireworks. We sat at the bar- it was early and there were only a few people there. We love the fact they have an oyster/raw bar. We ordered Blue Point oysters which were expensive - but what do you expect when it's not an R month? They were all great. We got to see the chefs making the huge seafood platters - which all things considering were a great value. The cocktails were good but the service at the bar initially was very slow. Overall good experience.

We typically love the properties in the Serg group, but not this one. Hush puppies came lukewarm. Mussels needed more exercise. These were quite tiny, but the onions and tomatoes that came along were tasty. Salmon was basic. We were hungry early and ordered off the early bird menu, but charged full price for a glass of wine. For the $ not worth a repeat for the food. For ambiance, it's a nice place with a really pretty patio view. Disappointed

Great place!! Make sure you hit the happy hour at the rooftop bar. Ask for James, Phil, or Savannah!! Best bartenders in Hilton head!! Drink prices are great and the food is awesome, try the Crab dip or shrimp. Wednesday is country night. Great bands!!!

There's a part of me who wants to be charitable about Poseidon, but I just can't do it. The bottom line is, when you have the balls to charge $27 for 3 scallops on a bed of grits and spinach--the whole experience had better be flawless. And even then, I'm not so sure it ends with a 5 star review. But that's not what happened. We arrived to find that the beer taps were all inoperable. No biggie, we opted for cocktails. They took forever to arrive, tired, melting and awful. It took multiple tries for 3 in our group to get bellinis and a mojito even drinkable. Bad. Service was way sub par. One of us ordered the special, and then half an later was told it was sold out. I don't think there was bread on the table for at least 30 minutes. The food took forever. And when the food arrived, it was......ok. Decent flavors, properly prepared, but teenie portions for the price. Honestly, it was just a sigh of relief to actually eat.

I just don't think the seafood was fresh - right out of the ocean fresh, I mean. I don't think this place is anything special. I would equate the seafood to something you could get at a local chain back home. However, the location was nice across from the Shelter Cover Park and we got to see the sun set from there. We sat outside across from the park.

What's to say, outside bar on a beautiful Saturday night the misses ordered the Sea Bass she said it was delicious and tasted extremely fresh. I got the seafood bounty and I loved it. Travis the bar manager was great and very helpful. Recommend this place to anyone who knows what seafood should taste like

Great music at night, food is slow coming and average tasting. Its a younger crowd, so expect some noise. The food seems like a chain restaurant, not fresh caught fish.

Pros: fantastic atmosphere. The rooftop bar was super interesting, lively, with great service and quick drinks. The service downstairs was well intentioned albeit overworked (perhaps normal for 8pm on a Thursday), which led to some serious issues. Cons: our table ordered the hot blue crab dip and was mistakenly delivered the mackerel spread (which we thought lacked flavor). The server noticed this once we had almost entirely devoured it and brought us out the correct appetizer. I ordered the pickled beet salad and kept expecting it to come out until I saw our entrees appear at the table sans salad. Turns out our server forgot to put in that portion of my order. In the group that I was with, my step father is highly allergic to bell peppers, as in his airways will swell and close. Even after emphatically explaining this to our server, we found bell peppers in the blue crab dip appetizer and his mixed vegetables side dish as well as his coastal rice. Our table had a serious scare as he tried to eat around his side dish only to encounter some jalapeño and bell pepper flavoring/chunks in the coastal rice (for whatever reason). We were however able to warn him of the peppers in the dip and prevent him from even taking a bite. Not every single ingredient is listed in these dishes and while we attempted to be diligent in alerting Poseidon staff to the allergies and ordering accordingly, we were unable to count on the them to serve food properly. All in all the food was mediocre, and the experience was seriously tainted. I would not recommend this restaurant unless you are in a smaller party without allergies and in no hurry to be anywhere.

Very disappointing. The restaurant is too commercialized and not comfortable. I ordered the whole fish and the main course came out before the appetizers. The food was only marginal.

Average at the best. Nothing to brag about. Wanted to sit upstairs but it was for bar and apps only. They squeezed all the kids into the back corner. Probably will not go back for dinner.

Our new favorite place! Great atmosphere and great food! We ate outside both times and loved it. We only ate lunch there both times so I can't review the dinner menu but the lunch was outstanding. Great drinks too!

Love this place! Our server was Jason and he was knowledgable and friendly. My husband is from Rhode Island and I'm from Florida. We know and love seafood. Here we could get fresh blue point oysters, shucked when ordered, whole belly Ipswich clams, huge king crab legs, fresh lobster cocktail, house-made clam chowder, fantastic cocktails, and in-house made desserts. My turtle sundae had a crispy homemade waffle dish, a nice touch. Everything extremely fresh and service was fast and friendly. Definitely my new favorite restaurant in Hilton Head Island. We were so excited to find this place. We'll be back!

Average. We have a one-year old so dining early with her usually ensures us a table. The restaurant was already filled at 5:50 and by 6pm we were seated outside. There are lots of ceiling fans and giant stand fans to help with the humidity and temp. Our server was friendly and chatty. I ordered a Moscow Mule and was surprised when it was brought out in a Serg group themed throwaway plastic cup. Aren't Moscow Mules always served in a copper mug? Apparently at Poseidon...only if you want to pay $20 for a souvenir cup. No. Moving on...we ordered the blue crab dip. While it tasted ok, it looked like a big greasy blob of dip that I imagine the restaurant cranks out 500 orders of a night. The cheese seperated and it looked grainy. We asked for water and were brought the short plastic Serg group cups that my Mule was in. Looking around it seemed most everyone else had standard restaurant plastic Coke cups. Not a big deal except it was blazing hot and we kept having to wait for refills in our tiny cups that couldn't even keep ice cool - and dripped all over us. On to our meals. Stuffed shrimp was paired with hard green beans. Shrimp was decent. The salmon with cous cous was pretty good and the cous cous was the best thing we tasted all night. First impression is to compare Poseidon to Old Oyster Factory back in its hey day. Get 'em in, get 'em out.

I heard this place was a newer club on the island on Saturday nights. I did not go for a meal or anything. Although I am past my clubbing days I wanted to check it out and I was with my younger brother. First thing I heard was the music which was provided by an awesome DJ. The dance floor was packed, there were tables everywhere, and there was cool lighting. It was one of the better clubs I have seen in my life, although I do not live near a major city so I don't have much to compare it to. If you are looking to go out with your friends for a night of dancing to remixed pop and hip hop, this place is a good time!

Had an excellent late evening meal. Sat outside with delicious cocktails. Hush puppies were delicious. Had excellent oysters from the raw bar menu. And even though it was close to their closing time, we were never rushed. Great choice!

This was our grown up night out, with no kids and we it was not what we expected. Although the food and the service was very good. Coming from NY, the advertisement, made us think it would be a real roof top bar and a more upscale restaurant. The dress is casual and the actual restaurant looks more like a diner than a fancy restaurant. The rooftop bar is enclosed. However, it does have a balcony with tables, but you cannot order food up there. If you're looking for something more romantic or with more ambiance I would try somewhere else.

Poseidons grilled salmon fresh catch is one of the most delicious dishes I've ever had. However the dish uses canola oil in the fish, roasted veggies, and rice so I don't know how healthy this dish is anymore. Canola oil is a semi-healthy oil. It occasionally contains unhealthy transfats. Make sure you have them cook it in white wine instead of oil.

Maybe 2.5. Ordered grill mix. Crab cake good, filet fatty and burnt, shrimp salty. Does not even come close to Frankie bones. Waste of time and money. Group of seven bill was 310 without tip or dessert.

Love love love the decor at this restaurant/lounge. Such a fun atmosphere for a beach vacation. Nautical theme. Ordered the buffalo frog legs, snow crab legs, and lobster. Entrees are big portions; could've shared the crab legs and lobster dishes. Crab legs were so delicious! A bit on the saltier side, but when dipped in melted butter, it was divine! Wish I had known of this place while we were there over the weekend; would have liked to check out the rooftop. Definitely a fun place to check out while vacationing in Hilton Head!

Construction in the exterior of area. Three of us went at 3:30 and there was a band outside on patio area. Very loud every time the door opened up. We ate in the inside. We arrived between lunch and the Early dining time. Must have been between shifts...The service was slow and not a lot of people in side. Food was slow to arrive and COLD when it finally got there. Was not impressed. One of the people had a Raspberry Cosmo that was mediocre. The Fried Green Tomato Caprese was cold and the goat cheese was super strong flavor. Could not eat. Someone else finished. Seafood Salad Sandwich was order by one. Was fair...never got the side salad. Mahi Melt was probably the better item of the three.

  • Jo L.

Food was decent and service was okay. Staff was friendly and mostly attentive. Kids' shrimp was so spicy, my daughter could not eat it (if you are serving firecracker shrimp to the under 12 crowd, you should probably mention that on the kids' menu). Grilled fresh mahi mahi was charred, kind of like I get my burgers at home if we don't clean the grill. Roasted veggies were great though as well as margarita. Pricy for selection but probably not overpriced for resort area.

Really nice lobster roll but served room temperature along with excellent fries. An unremarkable seafood bisque. The clam chowder was truly excellent. The pickled beet salad was a great winner. The server was pleasant but absent-minded and terribly slow. Too many excuses.

A lot of average reviews and even some pretty darn negative ones. That nearly turned me away as I am typically the harsher judge (or so I am told). We spent a week in Hilton Head with extended family and only went out one night. This was our selection and it did not disappoint. There was some confusion on the reservation. I called 2 days ahead and even confirmed but when I got there I was told we did not have a reservation, we simply called for priority seating. That was not what I was told but it all worked out as we only waited about 25 minutes and we enjoyed a drink on the rooftop bar in the meantime (perhaps part of their plan). The drinks at both the rooftop bar and the main restaurant were very good. We had martinis, mojitos and other mixed drinks that were made well. The beer and wine selection was also decent and poured at the right temperature. For me, the highlight of the food was the Oyster Bar. We went in July so I was concerned about the 'R' month theory and stuck with cold water oysters just in case. Very good!!! The rest of the food was good to excellent depending on the dish. Nothing disappointing my any means. An additional app winner were the duck wings. Three highlights at the table for dinner were the Gulf Grouper, the Seared New Bedford Scallops and the Seafood Bounty. Lots of desserts around the table that night as well but the hit seemed to be the Bacon Beignets with chocolate ganache for dipping. Not sure if that was even on the menu. Last but not least, every restaurant experience is typically won or lost by your server. A+ to Nicholas who handled us with grace, patience and accuracy (we were a tough crowd). Ask for him if you can.

  • Kelly Z.

It's nice because it's right by the water and has an outdoor open air restaurant /bar downstairs. Live music here and there. Upstairs has DJs or bands, with an inside/outside deck. Food is on the pricier side and wasn't too impressed. Decent drink selection...service is hit or miss!

Ordered a dozen clams for $17. 2 of the dozen were dead and never opened. 1 was missing. Of the remaining 9 no attempt was made at all to clean them. The broth was black from the mass amount of grit/sand. Waitress just said sorry, took the dead ones away and charged us full price for the dozen.

A beautiful view awaits you on the patio. It's a wonderful spot for a Sunday brunch. We had a couple of quick appetizers and Bloody Mary's. The mussels were absolutely delicious and the margarita pizza was spot on with plump ripe tomatoes. The only thing lacking was the friendliness of the host. They looked miserable to be there and while our server was friendly, she never checked back to see if needed more drinks and only checked on our food when we were half way finished. This restaurant has the potential to be great, but they will need to give their servers less tables so they can give more attention to their customers. The whole staff just didn't look happy.

We were hoping for a more unique experience for our first dinner on Hilton Head, however this place is the same as Red Lobster, claim Jumper, ect. The blue crab dip had very little crab and tasted like something you would buy in the freezer section at the grocer and warm up at home. Not terrible, but nothing special. The mixed grill - filet mignonette, shrimp and crab cake - was saved only by the filet. Odd that this is a seafood place and the steak was the best part. The crab cake would have been fine but it was drenched in a lemon butter sauce that was just overwhelming, the shrimp tasted as if they had been frozen and reheated... Mushy and bland... Come one, we can spit to the ocean from here, how are we getting frozen shrimp? The crackling pork pasta was good - again odd for a seafood place to have its best dish have zero seafood in it. The pork was tender and flavorful and the pasta was cooked perfectly. In a nutshell, this place was fine, but it's nothing you can't get at 100 different chain restaurants anywhere in the country. The prices were decent and the service was good. Our server was quite friendly and was able to answer any questions we had. If you are in for more of a food adventure or 'experience' look elsewhere.

Wait staff was very attentive, food was good (some menu items better than others), not good enough to say I have to go back before I leave the island. Basically, not a memorable meal. Hush puppies great, crab cakes very good, steak not so much, shrimp dishes bland. Ambiance is very nice. Great decor. Kid friendly for sure. Front desk staff clueless. Check and double check your reservations.

Great view! I would call ahead to avoid waiting for a table. Really cool "nauti" nautical bar outside and a really nice rooftop bar upstairs! Food was great! Went with a family of 8 and everyone enjoyed their food! I got the salmon and it was delicious!!! 4 stars because they messed up our reservation and our hush puppies were hard as rock! Other than that we loved it! Go at sunset for a gorgeous view!

We decided to drop in and have a late lunch here..were able to be seated right away even though there seemed to be a good crowd on hand which was a little unexpected for a 2pm Tuesday afternoon. We ordered our drinks right after we sat down but it took some time for them to be delivered as there seemed to be some confusion as to who our server actually was. After we got our drinks from the young lady who assumed our table we placed our order and our food came fairly quickly and it was good. I had a mahi sandwich and the wife had a salad (sorry, can't remember what kind but I know she said it was good). I will come on back with out any question on our next trip...sitting outside was nice with a nice view.

$25 for 4 stuffed shrimp. The shrimp were overcooked (used a knife to cut them). The stuffing lacked flavor. Seasonal vegetable was green beans (that were drowning in butter). I exchanged the rice for mashed potatoes (the potatoes tasted like they were instant with excessive butter). Apps - hush puppies were great. Calimari was good. Husband had fried cod, clams, and scallops - he liked his meal. Kids meals - fish and chips. The fish batter was a little bit on the spicy side. My five year old repeatedly told me his fish was hot. Overall...meh. Unlikely to return.

Below average for sure. I went to the bar the day before we were wanting to go there, so we could check out the menu to see if this is what we wanted to do at all. When we got there, all of the staff were very friendly! However the only way I could see the evening menu was in an area restaurant guide. I thought that was kind of weird. When we ended up going there for supper, the wait was fair, the server was cool, but it reminded me of tex-mex at a Mexican restaurant. Everything was very sub-par. The price wasn't out of line, but I expected more I guess. It was my dad's birthday and the waiter did bring a very nice desert at no charge. That was nice.

Great sliders! Cocktails are great too. The place is clean, has nice atmosphere and lots of seats. Gotta check out the roof top and the live music. I went there last night and Whiskey Myers was the band for the night. Awesome performance! I had a great time!

This is the worst we had in Hilton Head. The service was bad. The food took a long time. To wait that long for ordinary tasking food is really bad.I would have rather went to New York Pizza next door. You can do better some place else in the island. This is not worth the wait.

We had a great time at the rooftop bar the other night so we were looking forward to a family brunch today. The inside is very nicely decorated with an ocean theme. The hostess was friendly and said they were getting are table ready. We had 11: 30am reservations and we were seated on time. Our waitress was friendly but it did take a little while to order our drinks & receiving them did take a little longer than usual but no big deal. Shortly after receiving our drinks we placed out order. At 12:15pm we still did not have our food so I went and talked to a manger. He was friendly & apologetic & said the food would be out in a few minutes. At this point we hoped the food would be very good to make up for the slow service. Well that was the case! I ordered the smoked pastrami hash with 2 eggs & it was great. Wonderful smokey flavor & something I have never had before. My wife ordered the lobster Benedict which was amazing! Perfectly cooked lobster & a generous amount as well. The breakfast potatoes that came with my wife's were great as well. My son ordered the bacon waffle which he devoured. Other members of our party ordered the chicken & waffles & the prime rib Benedict which they all enjoyed as well. There was also a buffet which my other son got that had an omelette/egg chef as well as a good choice of breakfast favorites. After a very slow start The Poseidon did bounce back. I would give the service, because of the slow kitchen only, 2 stars but would give the food 4 stars at least. My wife plan on going back again for a happy hour or a later date night because the rooftop bar was a lot of fun and has great variety of entertainment and we had a wonderful bartender Jordan! I would give the rooftop bar at least 4 stars as well. Not sure we will be back for brunch this year but I would try it again on another trip because the food was so good!

Service was excellent. The ambiance is super cool and chill, just as you would expect from an island retreat restaurant. However, the food was... Meh. The hot crab dip was greasy, as was the crepe. Swimming in oil and cheese is not the most appetizing of meals. But my boyfriend had the gulf coast oysters and the seafood casserole and was pleased with both. The cucumber strawberry mojito he ordered was not good, but my weekend brunch Bellini was yummy. Just be careful what you order! It's very hit or miss...

We are locals. Very disappointed Had a large group (13) here on vacation. Went to restaurant several times ahead of actual date to ensure everything would be correct. It wasn't lackluster food. There are better choices in shelter cove

The service was okay but the food was not very good. The seafood was not fresh. We ordered the mussels, usually a can't miss dish, but they were fishy and the sauce was not very good. The other meals ordered varied greatly in size from substantial portions (shrimp pasta) to very small portion ( 3 scallops). Neither was very good. Go elsewhere yelpers for your island seafood.

Food was ok. Service was not good. Got the grouper, was a little over cooked. Our waiter made a few mistakes and then disappeared while we were done eating. Won't be back.

Great view with friendly people. We came in on a Friday night and sat at the bar upstairs. The bartender (Natalie) was attentive and friendly. There were a couple of bands playing that night and we really liked it that you could enjoy the music but still have a conversation. The drinks were tasty and reasonably priced. We didn't order food because we had just eaten, but what we saw looked like it would be good.

Well, this place was hyped up so much that I suppose we went in with high expectations (SERG group hype). We went there for lunch, so I can't really comment on the dinner. Our experience was...alright. The decorations are pretty darn cool and the ambiance of both the upper and lower levels work well for their purpose. The nautical theme is a nice change of pace compared to the old mall at Shelter Cove. Plus, the location is prime for sunsets and Tuesday fireworks. The food was alright. We got clam chowder as an appetizer, which was honestly the best part of our meal. My wife got the lobster roll, which really had no flavors (it almost tasted like faux lobster). I got the mahi mahi sandwich, which was pretty good, but nothing spectacular. The price was up to par with the other SERG restaurants, so it was more on the expensive side. The staff was friendly enough and checked up on us often, which was nice. However, I noted in our reservation that we were there for a special occasion. None of the staff members came over to recognize that or anything, which was disappointing. Overall, Poseidon has a lot of potential and does excel in some elements, but needs improvement on the flavors of the food. If I am going to pay those prices, I expect a strong flavor profile. Restaurant competition on the island is tough, so Poseidon really needs to step up if they are to remain there for the long term.

I'm very surprised at these average reviews. We dined here last night and were all very happy with the meal, atmosphere, and service. I'd recommend getting there for the early bird option. The prices are much better and the portions are large. We went at 5:00 since my baby was with us. I had the scallops, and it was the best entree out of the 3 folks I was with. Perfectly cooked and seasoned served with thick, rich grits. We all raved over them! Absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the New England Casserole, and it was stuffed full of seafood and very satisfying. My dad got the halibut and stepmom the stuffed shrimp. I'd recommend all of them! The blue crab app with naan bread was really good as well. We'll happily come back here on our next trip to Hilton Head!

I went here with my wife and kids and we were very pleased. Every dish was fantastic and worth writing home about. The beet salad was exquisite, and my scallops were absolutely outstanding. I would come here again without question. Loved it!

Mixed review but it's early. I wrote a blog on active rain but after last night I have to revise. I don't mind paying high prices if the good and atmosphere warrants. The noise is deafening and our table of six could barely communicate. It's pretty but they've obviously been receiving complaints since our server said they wi be adding sound panels. I had the smoked fish platter-$17- was nice but small-the tip is that anything from the oyster bar menu is appetizer portion. The Poseidon salad was a disappointment-overdressed and with canned red pepper strips, canned black olive rings. The front of the house is swarming with servers but obviously kitchen is not in sync since it took more than 30 minutes after we finished appetizers to get main courses. Suggestion is to shorten menu

What a great addition to the island! We visited at least four times during our week stay. Great bar food and service - especially Brock and Travis! We had one experience that was not great but the amazing manager, Lynn, was quick to make sure we were happy. The oysters are fresh and delicious and the other items we had were also very good. I highly recommend stopping here for a drink at the outside bar. Check this place out - you won't be disappointed. Great happy hour!

We had a great evening at Poseidon's. The restaurant has a fun, modern beach decor. We had a group of 18 and ate in the outdoor area which is covered and has many ceiling fans to make sure guests are comfortable. We really loved the atmosphere and the views. Allen and the servers took great care of us -- from getting us seated quickly to checking in on our group frequently. The clam chowder and vegetable flatbread were both incredible. My son raved about the crab cakes. Everyone in the group gave the food good reviews. We will definitely be going back!

    (5)
  • K R.

Pleasantly surprised! The reviews don't do this place justice. The entire meal was very good, full staff so the waiter was able to be very attentive. Will recommend to anyone. We had the baked shrimp and scallops.

We are Hilton Head locals. It took me awhile to try this place because it was part of the mall renovation, which seemed like the only project on island that didn't maintain the island natural landscape. We did try the downstairs bar a few weeks ago, loved the food enough to go back tonight. We decided to go up and try the Rooftop Bar tonight. Went up, enjoy a drink and the DJ for awhile. On the way out, we were stopped by security over our dress code. My boyfriend had a solid brown long sleeve Margaritaville collared shirt with a Margaritaville tshirt. Apparently the "graphic " tshirt was not allowed and please don't come back unless you are "dressed to impress". Is this a beach community? The manager has since apologized but I think the dress code should be very specific ... Having a security guard decide if we are "dressed to impress" is insulting and completely subjective.

As this was the newest addition to the SERG restaurant group - I had high expectations. Unfortunately, this is a big letdown. Positives: Quick seating with the open table app. They will text you when your table is ready - a much better system than the old school beeper system, now you are free to walk around and you are not tied to the place while waiting. The decor is adorable and the drink menu is quite extensive. Overall the atmosphere is good - loud but still good. Negatives: The service is not so great. For a place that has been open since January - the staff should be able to perform efficiently. It took our server 15 minutes to come over and greet us. When she finally did - there was no excuse for what took so long. It only went down from there. She paid no attention to the 3 of us, we had to get her attention numerous times for drink refills. Bread and apps were brought out by an expo and by the time she came back to ask if we needed anything - they were done. 45 minutes later our food came and still we only saw the server twice. The food quality was sub par. I had broiled scallops and shrimp. I have had much better for a lot less $$. The truffle Mac and cheese has entirely too much truffle on it and the "fresh cut fries" were clearly from a bag and pretty bad as well. My boyfriend had the shrimp and grits and said they were only ok. His mom ordered the king crab legs. They were brought to her and she has to request they be split open. The server acted like we were crazy and she had to wait almost 15 minutes for them to come back. By then we were done and watched her eat. We did complain to the manager and she is the sole reason why I gave this place any stars at all. She was great and probably the only person in the place who had any idea what she was doing. I can't comment on on the bars - I didn't go to them. But I can say we won't be back. SERG needs to drop this place stat.

Service was terrible. They weren't busy but it took 15 minutes for someone to take our order. Once I did order i was unhappy to get my undercooked fish. Such a shame as this place has potential. By the way if the owner is reading this you should ask your servers to quit playing with their phones and pay attention to their customers.

The food was ok. The service was chaos. The hostess blew our seating and two managers came by to tell us what we did wrong. Very stressful beginning to the dinner. The waitress was great but spent slot of time explaining their behavior. Poor girl. Make sure you understand the rules before you dine here. HAPPY HOUR IS VERY STRESSFUL. NEEDED THOSE EXTRA DRINKS. GOOD GRIEF!

We came on a Sunday around 2:00 and waited about 15 minutes for a table. I'm not really sure why because there were a bunch of open tables. I ordered a salad and tuna tartare and both were very average. For the price, they should have been excellent. The service was fair to average and I just expected so much more from this place. I got sick from the food so the tuna must have not been fresh! The outside is very nice, the bar area looks fun and the location is great, but we won't be back.

Visited this past Sunday for lunch after a long bike ride. The outside view and ambiance are nice, however that does not make a successful restaurant. The restaurant was not busy...at all. The waiter/bartender took a long time to get drinks for our party of two. I was promised a water with my bloody mary several times throughout the meal, but never brought one. The waiter/bartender even commented how long our turkey and fish sandwich took. Once it arrived... it left much to be desired. It's a shame that its menu and service don't mirror the beautiful ambiance of this restaurant.

I have to change my review.... The service at the upstairs bar was very slow! Once someone stopped to take care of us we expressed our dissatisfaction and they went above and beyond to change our experience. We had dinner downstairs and the food was amazing!! Would give 5 stars if we had great service from the start. Would go back.

We went for dinner on a Sunday night, ate downstairs. We had a reservation and we were seated in a booth right away. We ordered the crab cake app, it was very good. However would not order it again it was one small crab cake for $14. We ordered the grouper and swordfish, both dishes were fabulous. We would go again, just a bit earlier. We did find it very loud and if you are sitting at a table, you are very close to the table next to you.

  • S. R.

We arrived around 645 and our table was available right at 7. We waited approximately 15 minutes for our server to come around to take drink orders then it took another 10 minutes to get the drinks and she even forgot to bring us waters after we asked twice. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was so-so, but the service was terrible! There were about 30 employees running around and our server seemed to be the worst. She would disappear for 15-20 minutes at a time. We didn't leave until 930pm and we had our one year old with us. That is a bit ridiculous for a dinner and hard to keep a baby entertained for that long especially since her bedtime is 830. I recommend the food but the service makes me want to tell everyone to stay away.

This is a mixed bag for me. The service was a mess. We got there at 8 and didn't get our main course until after 9 which seemed a bit excessive. I ordered completely wrong as well got the bbq chicken and it was so smokey I felt like the chicken was sitting in the back bar actually smoking a pack of cigs prior to them cooking it. My husband had the mahi and it was very good. I was a little jealous since mine was so gross. Two of us did get extra sides bc they got that wrong and one of us didn't get a salad bc it went to the wrong table and then they had to remake it and almost lost it again to another table before we flagged him down. It was just very strange service. We did go upstairs to the rooftop bar and that was pretty cool. Their drinks are fun I had the cucumber strawberry mojito and loved it. Very refreshing. Over all it was just ok especially when you are paying higher prices.

Very good service. We sat on the main floor for lunch that has a nice view of Broad Creek, but I'm sure the view from the second floor for sunset is beautiful. The lobster roll and salad were very good. The Mahi was a little tough, but still good for a mid-priced restaurant. The French fries where good and arrived hot. Over all, good food for a reasonable price with great water views.

Lets start with our arrival, I made a reservation online through Open Table, repeat RESERVATION!! but Poseidon doesn't take reservations they use PRIORITY seating?? So when we arrive I am told we are #8 on the Priority list, REALLY!! Arrive 10 minutes early waited 1 HOUR. After asking several times about how long & finally talking to a manager, a hostess came up & apologized but still after that we waited another 20 minutes. Service was at best marginal. We started with Apps, RI Calamari being from Rhode Island it's nothing like RI Calamari, it was dry lacked flavor, hushpuppies had no taste, clam chowder was too sweet missed totally. Dinner was no better, one guest had the N. Atlantic Cod it was small for the price & very dry, 3 guests had steaks they were OK cooked the way they were ordered. Server was slow to react to empty drink glasses and one steak dinner did not come with a steak knife and I waited 10 minutes for one. All in all not a place I would return to next time I am in HHI.

This place was great! Food was awesome! I thought the service was slow but then again it was slow everywhere we went thus week. We're on vacation and we don't care. Once we got our order placed everything seemed to speed up. Great atmosphere too. We will return.

Great food, great service. The Gulf Coast Shrimp Burger with andouille sausage is very unique, as it is good. Only complaint was the app arrived with the lunch, but other than that it was awesome. Wife's lobster roll was outstanding and the Hot Blue Crab Dip with pimento cheese was great. Great experience, will go there again.

This is a big restaurant. It has a huge downstairs covered outside patio and bar as well as seating inside and upstairs with a balcony over looking a lovely park and the water. We started with the hush puppy appy, it hot, light and tasty with sweet butter, yum. Then for lunch we both had the trio of fish, I had scallops, catfish and local shrimp delicious, hot and tasty seasoned just right, my husband had oysters instead of the shrimp. You can have it fried or broiled your choice. No room for desert but it looked amazing. Price was right, good food here and good value for money we would go back. Oh and service was very friendly!

Had been anticipating the opening of this grand place for a while. Went just to get my toes wet and check it out on a Sat. night about 10pm (good thing I had on dark jeans and black Sanuks or I might not have gotten in). Went to Upstairs Bar to have a beer and see what was going on. If you are into the dance clubs with a lot of middle aged women and senior golfers...OH, and a "Holiday Inn" band...this is your place for hot summer nights! Went back Monday for a day look and lunch. Sat at outside bar, very nice and great scenery. About five people at the bar and just my luck, Dumb and Dumber were bar tending. After a few minutes wait, I finally ordered a beer and shrimp burger. Eh, I expected a little more. Bland. Poseidon has GREAT potential but IMHO, is going to have to step it up! Poseidon will make a great tourist trap. Don't think the locals will support. I think next time I will go to Capt. Woody's for a grouper sandwich and an ice cold beer. Feel more at home there. : )

We came here during the week for happy hour and oysters. We sat at the oyster bar. We waited at least 10 minutes for the bartender to serve us. He was taking care of drink orders from the servers. He just needed some extra help is all. While we waited for the bartender, we talked to guy tending the oyster bar. He was very knowledgeable about the daily oyster selection. They really needed to have an oyster menu with the descriptions, as it is easy to forget. They do have the daily oysters written on glass on the front of the bar, but most oyster bars have a list of the oysters features and how they taste. This guy was wonderful but again...he needed helped as he had to shuck the entire time we were asking him questions. The place wasn't super busy but enough so that the bar tender and oyster bar were not moving things quickly. I'm giving this 4 stars since the food was really very good. Once we were there for a bit things slowed down. The bartender was polite and helpful for wine suggestions. My Father got the shrimp cocktail and it was gorgeous. We also had shishito peppers. They are a deal and tasty! We will definitely be back. The views are lovely here. We used to have a place in Newport behind the restaurant and I can tell you the sunset is amazing!

It was with much anticipation that Poseidon Coastal Cuisine recently opened on Hilton Head. It is part of the SERG Group of restaurants managed locally on the island. Our party of 3 had 6:00pm reservations for a Saturday evening dinner...planning a nice family dinner out. Upon entering we were struck by acoustics...it was loud...amplified by the stainless steel and tile...making any intimate conversation a challenge at best. However, the staff promptly greeted us and prepared to take us to our seats...near the kitchen entrance. This meant our dinner would be frequently interrupted as staff hustled by and bumping our chairs as tables/chair are tightly arranged. Our server was pleasant and attentive, bringing us water and a bread basket. The menu is plentiful and selections reasonably priced. Our party decided on 2 appetizers...jumbo shrimp cocktail and crab dip. The shrimp were admittedly large, but there were only 3 pieces. The crab dip was only fair...it was a mix of pimento cheese and lump crab served with pita bread wedges. Though salads are not included with the entrees, so we each ordered a side salad. Dinner orders in our party included prime rib, scallops, and broiled shrimp. The prime rib though quite good was accompanied by plain mashed potatoes, and undercooked green beans. The broiled shrimp (also very good) was accompanied by cold sticky rice and the same undercooked green beans. Both dinners failed to hit the mark. The winner of the evening seemed to be the scallops...3 large pieces topped with bacon, served on a bed of cheese grits and sautéed spinach. Overall, the meal was "just okay" and worthy of a second chance, but for our party it will definitely not be for awhile.

We've been here for Happy Hour appetizers twice. My husband had the oysters the first and second time. They were fresh and he liked the featured varieties. I had the Ceasars salad. They changed out the usual romaine leaves for baby kale. They also served it with roasted grape tomatoes. Nice version of this ubiquitous salad. Attentive and accomodating wait staff. Edgy decor.

Service was satisfactory. Acoustics was awful. Food was less than satisfactory - borderline awful. About choked on the clam chowder; clams were more chewy than beef jerky - actually could not swallow two bites. Asked for broiled fish and fried oysters; can't - all fried or all broiled. I assume that if one gets the broil plate that fries and cole slaw are not allowed; I got vegetables and rice. Coca cola was good. My experience has been that the SERG Group was a sure dining experience, but not this time.

My family and I had a wonderful dinner here. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant was gorgeous - every detail from the dining room chairs to the bar to the restrooms- it was just beautiful and really nicely done. The bartender and server we had were both great as well- very friendly and attentive. All of the food was awesome, too- especially the calamari and seafood bisque (on and the truffle mac and cheese!). We will definitely be coming here next time we're on Hilton Head :)

Big disappointment! We were excited to hear about this new restaurant in what seemed like a great setting. The service was terrible, the waitress was rude and acted like she was doing us a favor. The food was inconsistent, Oysters had shells in them and were not served on ice? Hush puppies were dry and bland. Softshell crab (a special) were dry, over cooked and over breaded in corn meal....do I need to go on? Oh yea there was the wedge salad which was 1/2 a head of iceberg with the stem still in it! There was no attention to detail when it came to the service or the food. Tried to give manager input (not to complain) and he was just as indifferent as the waitress was. They have some work to do, don't think we will be back.

This place is not ready for prime time despite heavy advertising and a great location. We waited 75 minutes being seated at 9:15 after arriving at 7:45 for an 8:00 reservation. Service was almost non existent, lots of wait staff standing around cluelessly. At 10 pm we were still waiting for food, at which time we called over what appeared to be a manager. He assured us our food was on the way.....15 minutes later we left and went to Frosty Frog. Unimpressed, too many other choices on HHI to give this another chance.

Def not boathouse. Your upstairs dress code sucks, looks like it's already created some attention from others on the island as well. Don't plan on wearing any hats or visors if you want a drink up stairs outside.

Nice place. Excellent options for seating, indoors and outside. If you want a full menu, dine downstairs, if you want something more casual, go to the rooftop for a smaller menu, full bar menu and beautiful view of the bay. As advertised, we headed there for the sunset and it did not disappoint. Have a drink or two as the sun goes down, once down you can stay for some fun with a DJ and dancing. We were there during low season and a Sunday, so not many people for a great party but definitely worth going for the drinks and a view! The service was also fantastic. When in the area, would go back.

I had the shrimp and grits and my wife had the 1/2 poind of shelled shrimp. I beer and 1 diet coke. $45, Service was very good and personal. Went on a Tuesday and had front row seats to the fireworks. Pleasantly surprised. Only mistake they did and a tip for you. If they say the wait is over an hour, you simply eat outside at an available high top.Our wait? none.

A solid 4. Had a great experience. There's a park right across the way which was great for the kids while we waited for our table. Our server Nick was great! Hubby liked the oysters while the fish and chips were a big hit for me and my daughter.

After reading many reviews about Poseiden Coastal Cuisine, we decided to meet friends there for Sunday Brunch. To start, we had a reservation, arrived early and were seated promptly. Tiffany was our waitress, who greeted us warmly, made many suggestions for drinks and appetizers while we waited for our friends to arrive. I ordered the St. Bart's Margarita. BEST Margarita I've had in a VERY long time. Would have had another, except it was so early in the day, was worried I might not make it to dinner!! Lol....Also split the hot crab dip with toasted Naan bread. Really yummy. Two at our table ordered the Lobster crepes, two ordered omelets. Everyone had the delicious breakfast potatoes (small potatoes, roasted crisp, smashed then tossed in parmesan cheese? Yes please!). What we really liked about the food was the appropriate serving size. Not soooo much food, just right. And the service from Tiffany was FABULOUS! She was personable, funny, made great suggestions. We will be back for lunch sometime this week and will definitely ask for Tiffany's table. The manager came by toward the end of our meal to check on us. Nice touch. Go to this restaurant. It's a good one. Have heard that it is packed during Happy Hour and on the nights that popular bands are playing; so expect to wait your turn, but seriously, the drinks, food and service were fantastic.

Most arrogant restaurant I've ever been to. Called, and they say they are not allowed to tell you if there is a wait. Asked for directions, and the employee says "it's next to New York Pizza". There are TWO New York Pizza's on the island, but she doesn't know anything else about where the restaurant is located because she lives off the island, or so she says. THEN, when I arrive, and I ask to speak to the manager about the fact they don't give out info on if there is a wait, the manager does not even look up from her work station when she addresses me and asks me what I need from her. UNBELIEVABLE. I don't need ANYONE'S food that bad. BUT, I did spend $200 at another restaurant for 3 people, so your loss Poseidon. ON, and SERG, or whoever runs these restaurants...I've been going to restaurants a long time....and I know the restaurant business.....keep up the arrogance and pretty soon you'll be just another one that bites the dust. You might have the "new kid on the block" status now, but after reading many of the reviews for this restaurant, I doubt I'll be hearing about your restaurant after the newness wears off.

Had a great Saturday night experience at the bar. No dinner. Fun atmosphere that's unlike anything else on HHI. One suggestion: please cut out the camera that shows the people on the dance floor on the big screen. Not only is it probably super awkward for those dancing, but no one needs to see many of those people dancing in person, much less magnified 20X20 for the entire venue to have to witness.

We love the SERG group of restaurants and tried to give Poseidon a chance to settle in, but three months down the road, not what we expected! Lunch waitress very attentive until we ordered, then missing in action! Appetizer never showed, my wife's lobster roll was great and my bacon burger was up to par. Second round of drinks supplied by floor manager "on the house", thank the lord, and appetizer credit provided.... noise level could use some help also. We'll probably give it a go for dinner down the road because we have always recommended the SERG Restaurants to friends and family. Hopefully, they'll get their act together here before the tourist season.

I had heard so many great things about this new restaurant, and was anxious to check it out during our last night on the island. The views from the rooftop patio were beautiful and the decor inside was also very modern and nice. It was definitely a new and unique restaurant that has been added to the Hilton Head scene. Our service experience was not the greatest, unfortunately. We went on a Monday night, so there were very few people who were there, however, the service was fairly slow for such a large restaurant that is used to catering to large groups of people. It appeared as though our waitress was covering at least 10 tables all by herself. I ordered a shrimp and noodle dish, and after ordering, was told 5 minutes later that the chef earlier in the day had messed up the sauce and they could therefore, not sell it. I picked something else and then 5 more minutes later was told that they actually did in fact have a little bit of the sauce left from the shrimp and noodle dish if I wanted to change my mind again. When my food arrived, I literally had only one shrimp in it. I asked the waitress and she was nice enough to bring me an extra bowl of shrimp to add - after about 10 more minutes of waiting, when the rest of the dish had cooled down substantially. We then order dessert and I was thinking out loud between two options. We finally made the executive decision to order one of the dishes, yet they brought out the two desserts that we had been talking about. As this could have been in part my fault, we decided not to say anything, especially after the shrimp and noodle fiasco. Needless to say, we were charged for everything except the extra shrimp addition (which should have been in the dish to begin with). We feel that for all of the back and forth, they could have at least given us a $5 basket of hush puppies on the house or something. Overall, the food was pretty good, but unless they just have better and quicker staff during their busier times, I would recommend going to one of the more established seafood places like Hudson's or Crazy Crab.

The Boston creme pie is not to be missed! The kale Cesar salad absolutely delicious. Great meal and we will be back!

Mixed review, the food was great (appropriate sized portions and flavorful) but the service was extremely slow. Trying to fit more than four people into a booth was problematic. We asked to be reseated and they were very accommodating but looking at the parties of six still in booths and you could tell from their faces that they were uncomfortable. The decor is nice and fresh, but it is very loud. It was difficult to carry on a conversation. I would return in a few months to see if they have worked out some of the issues and made improvements ( I enjoyed the food enough to give them another chance)

We had a group of four with a lady minute open table reservation after a long day golfing at Palmetto Dunes. Service was great, cocktails were refreshing and tasty. We ordered two different batches of oysters which were PERFECT. I had a special dish of sheepshead fish with goat cheese and spinach risotto and it was the BEST risotto anyone at my table had ever had. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the flavors were unique and creative. Great vibe. Would definitely return!!

We visited this restaurant on New Year's Day, and yes it had only been open for a week, but they have a lot of problems there, mostly with the food. We had several people dining and only one of the people actually liked their dish. We ordered appetizers, entrees and dessert. The dessert was surprisingly good. The rest of the food was horrible. I don't know who is putting this food on the plates, but my advice would be to 1. Fire whoever created this menu 2. Fire the chef 3. Look to the other chefs and owners of the Serg group restaurants and plead for their help. Otherwise, this restaurant will not survive and that would be a shame. The upstairs rooftop is a very nice place to go for a drink assuming they have the ingredients to make the drinks, which they did not have the night we were there. I do hope they do well. I was very excited to see this coming to the island and was so disappointed. I am anxious to see what the summer visitors have to say, if they make it to the summer. So sad!

Really nice lobster roll but served room temperature along with excellent fries. An unremarkable seafood bisque. The clam chowder was truly excellent. The pickled beet salad was a great winner. The server was pleasant but absent-minded and terribly slow. Too many excuses.

The hot blue crab dip was filling-we couldn't eat it all. Gotta get the baked oysters. The southern rocks!! Baked coastal combo is a safe choice. Prince Edward muscles were king of the night. Everything was dipped in the heavenly sauce. The hush puppies, french fries, and bread all made it in the bowl. Truffle mac and cheese should be ordered only if everyone wants a little taste, too strong to eat alone.

I wasnt impressed. Serves a shot in a plastic cup and charges 11$. And they have a collared shirt rule on weekends which makes the plastic cup thing even more pretentious.

Poseidon was an awesome atmosphere, great food that was extremely fresh. Wait staff were on point. Nice place for kids as well as a cool night spot. Reasonably priced for this quality of food. Establishment is very clean and had clean bathrooms, great pick!

We stopped in about 2:00 p.m. and were seated promptly inside. Inside was not full of customers by any means. Our waiter came to our table the first time, took our drink order which he filled in a reasonable time. In the next 10 minutes, he passed by our table several times without acknowledging we were even there. He continued to service the tables around us. After 15 minutes of waiting to have our order taken, we left money on the table for the drinks and left the restaurant, We explained the situation to the hostess, who said she was sorry. Sorry doesn't justify what I would consider rude behavior by the waiter. We will not be going back! .

We had great service but the food was not great. My entire fish dinner was cold. They Apologized and took it off my tab but did nothing else to remedy the bad food.

Perfect place to watch fireworks and have a few drinks I've been here on several occasions everyone has been better than the last and plan on telling all my friends to meet me there this Tuesday the staff is great the food is great , and it is definitely the place to be !!!!!

This is the worst we had in Hilton Head. The service was bad. The food took a long time. To wait that long for ordinary tasking food is really bad.I would have rather went to New York Pizza next door. You can do better some place else in the island. This is not worth the wait.

    (2)
  • Paula Y.

  • Kristie B.

We are locals. Very disappointed Had a large group (13) here on vacation. Went to restaurant several times ahead of actual date to ensure everything would be correct. It wasn't lackluster food. There are better choices in shelter cove

Pleasantly surprised! The reviews don't do this place justice. The entire meal was very good, full staff so the waiter was able to be very attentive. Will recommend to anyone. We had the baked shrimp and scallops.

GOOD GRIEF!

    (4)
  • Susan C.

A solid 4. Had a great experience. There's a park right across the way which was great for the kids while we waited for our table. Our server Nick was great! Hubby liked the oysters while the fish and chips were a big hit for me and my daughter.

  • Jackie H.

This place was great! Food was awesome! I thought the service was slow but then again it was slow everywhere we went thus week. We're on vacation and we don't care. Once we got our order placed everything seemed to speed up. Great atmosphere too. We will return.

The food was ok, but not great. The servers were casual but attentive. The area around the restaurant made for a pleasant walk after.

5 people, 5 different entrees and 5 extremely happy people. The food was delicious and the service was pretty good. The location is great with the park across the street. Deserves a lot better than 3 stars!!

The new happening spot in HHI was pretty good. The Seafood Bisque was my FAV. Definitely check it out.

If they say the wait is over an hour, you simply eat outside at an available high top.Our wait? none.

So sad!
